What is the Feldenkrais Method?

The Feldenkrais Method is an ingenious learning process that uses body movement as the “programming language” for your Central Nervous System.  Through gentle micro-movements, listening touch, and verbal clarification, you can learn to move, think, and feel DIFFERENT.

Tilting LegIf you think of your habitual patterns in movement, learned over many years, as a bunch of unconscious “programs” running in the background of your life experience, then you can think of a Feldenkrais lesson as a tool that will allow your whole system to function at a higher level.  When you explore our subtle, novel, interesting movements with curiosity and attention, an astonishing range of improvements ca occur.  Our students frequently report sensations of lightness, evenness, buoyancy, ease, and grace in movement; along with improved posture, balance, breathing, comfort, coordination, and outlook.

Our clients often say they appreciate the opportunity to step away from a strict medical model, where they are seen only in terms of their diagnosis, or to fix whatever is wrong with them.  Rather, the Feldenkrais Method begins with those activities that engage and enliven you — and moves into new possibilities for improved  quality and vitality in your life.
